Pangong Lake

Pangong Lake is a breathtaking high-altitude lake located at about 4,350 meters, stretching from India to China. Famous for its ever-changing hues of blue, it is a favorite spot for photographers and nature lovers. The stark landscape around the lake, with barren mountains and clear skies, makes it a surreal experience. It also gained worldwide fame from Bollywood films like “3 Idiots.”

    • Best time to visit: June to September when the lake is unfrozen.
    • Carry warm clothes as temperatures drop sharply after sunset.
    • Permits required for Indian tourists; arrange through Leh prior to visit.
    • No permanent accommodations at the lake; stay in nearby camps or Leh.
    • Road to Pangong is rough; consider hiring a reliable local driver.
